For us we participated for the very first time in the event and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A big Thanks to you all for doing an awsome job. Keep up the good work.
Our team Science Warriors participated for the first time. All the kids are from 5th grade. The kids had a blast and the participation in the event inspired them to comeback strongly with a higher ranking. Above all, it made learning Science a fun activity. Thanks for your organizing an event of this size with limited resources.
Thanks to all volunteers and judges at the event, it was a great experience for kids participating in the event.
The final jeopardy event had the following problem and I hope you will address it next year:
The announcer (who was doing a fine job) ask the contestants to select a category and clicks on selected entry. This shows the question on the screen. But triggers for candidates were disabled until he finished reading the question and the lady controlling the circuit releases presses the button.
This means a kid who read the question fast and is pressing the button WILL not get registered. The triggers should be activated at the moment the question comes on the screen. I recommend that the person controlling the polling circuit watch the screen and open the circuit the moment the question is visible on the screen.
Thanks for your valuable feedback. We try to mimic the TV show Jeopardy! wherein the buzzer is activated ONLY after the host (Alex Trebek) finishes reading the question. There is a slight advantage to reading it along with the host or ahead of the host, in that the participant can be prepared to press the trigger as soon as it is made available.
One more year of successful organizing the event. Thank you for making it go smoothly.
Thank you all the judges and volunteers for being part of the event, especially those who were in the midst of their exams.
It was our first time competing in this event and we all had a lot of fun, learned a lot from this experience and hope to do well and have more fun next year as well. Thanks to the efforts of all organizers :)
Thank you all for your well wishes and the supportive and constructive comments on how well the event was run. We did see a lot of enthusiastic kids participate in the competition and every one of them exceeded the judges' expectations! We would love to see all the eligible kids come back again next year. It would be great if all the kids continue to help with the event as they grow up.
Nice job as always- Raji / Vidya / Arun and all the rest of the volunteers and judges! Even though we might have not won many awards, our team had a great time learning, participating and socializing with everyone. Thanks for encouraging the kids and generating a love for science!
8th Annual Bay Area Elementary Science Olympiad (2015) was a huge success with 29 teams participating in 11 events. We'd like teams to post their encouraging comments here.
