The 13th year of Bay Area Elementary Science Olympiad successfully completed on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in a virtual format. The event was conducted under the auspices of a local non-profit organization, Science Gurus, which acts as a mentor platform for youth in STEM fields. 33 teams from both Tri-Valley and South Bay regions competed in 11 different events in various topics from Microbe Mission to Gravity Vehicle, which engaged the young minds to learn science concepts. The enthusiastic elementary school students answered many tough questions that were beyond their grade level. A big thanks to all the teams, coaches, and judges who helped run the event successfully.
The virtual format was feasible using zoom features such as break out rooms. We had to enlist a lot more judges to make this happen and thank all of the high school, college, and adult judges who helped with the event.
The final results are posted below.
