ESO 2014 Review
7th Bay Area Elementary Science Olympiad was conducted successfully on May 31, 2014, thanks to all the teams and volunteers who helped run the event. The results, video and the photos from the event day are posted above. Congratulations to the champions, WS-ISOTOPES from Fremont that swept the competition in many events, and clinching the first place with a wide margin! Thanks to all the teams that participated in the event on Saturday. We saw a lot of energy from the kids and the parents. It was great fun working with the talented kids. Our judges have nothing but praise for all the kids who showed amazing talent and knowledge at this young age. Each generation seems to excel in more knowledge than its predecessor :-) Our special thanks to all the parent volunteers who helped throughout the day with their assigned tasks. While we have the raw scores ready, it is customary for us to double-check the scores once again (spot check the raw scores, go through each event rankings and placements) to ensure we didn't miss anything. While these were checked by 4 pairs of eyes on event day prior to Awards ceremony-- which caused the 30 min. delay-- we will check it once again to make sure everything is correct. This will take us a few days. Once ready, we'll post the final scores for all events on the website (no later than end of this week) and send it to the head coaches. We have been receiving congratulatory emails and suggestions to improve. We request all coaches to please put in their words of appreciation in the Blog--ESO 2014 Comments tab. This does make the student volunteers feel good about what they do and will ascertain that this is a worthy cause and make them help again next year :-) --Vidya Pingali |
