ReviewBay Area Elementary Science Olympiad successfully completed its eleventh year on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in Fremont, CA. The event was conducted under the auspices of a local non-profit organization, Science Gurus, which acts as a mentor platform for youth in STEM fields. 32 teams from 13 different schools participated this year. The competition in 11 different events in various topics from Picture This to Mission Possible engaged the young minds to learn science concepts. The enthusiastic 4th, 5th and 6th grade students answered many tough questions that were beyond their grade level. The buzzer round of the Science Jeopardy posed some tough questions with a general theme of technological advances. Mission Possible made a come back after several years, and saw some creative designs involving simple machines. The warm weather helped raise the team spirit in the outdoor pentathlon activity. The cheers from the teams and parents revealed the enthusiasm and the love of science everyone shared on that day. A big thanks to all the judges and volunteers who helped run the event successfully.
We welcome all positive and constructive comments in the Comments section. These will encourage the high school judges (most of whom are ESO alums) to perform their best. We hope all the kids will give back to the community by volunteering to run this event every year. Enjoy the photos below from event day. |
