ReviewThe 12th year of Bay Area Elementary Science Olympiad successfully completed on Saturday, March 30, 2019 in Fremont, CA. The event was conducted under the auspices of a local non-profit organization, Science Gurus, which acts as a mentor platform for youth in STEM fields. 34 teams from 14 different schools participated this year. The competition in 11 different events in various topics from Microbe Mission to Gravity Vehicle engaged the young minds to learn science concepts. The enthusiastic elementary school students answered many tough questions that were beyond their grade level. The popular event like Pentathlon gave all teams opportunity to show off their collaboration skills. Write it –Build it made a comeback after several years, and was well received. It was a perfect day for outdoor activity. The cheers from the teams and parents revealed the enthusiasm and the love of science everyone shared on that day. A big thanks to all the judges and volunteers who helped run the event successfully.
We welcome all positive and constructive comments in the Comments section. These will encourage the high school judges (most of whom are ESO alums) to perform their best. We hope all the kids will give back to the community by volunteering to run this event every year. |
